Open the door to one of the top floor penthouse apartments and sensors turn on the lights to greet you, there’s a ‘downstairs’ Villeroy & Boch WC and washbasin, an under stairs cupboard perfect for coats, and real wood oak floors throughout. Making best use of the light and airy environment, the living /dining area opens onto the kitchen allowing for sociable evenings cooking and eating with friends. Some apartments have a second reception room, ideal for a home office or guest bedroom.
The oatmeal carpeted stairs are lit theatrically from the sides of the risers and take you up to a large landing area which could be transformed into a dressing area with walk-in wardrobe or somewhere to sit quietly with a favourite book. St George’s Mill has all the quirky features of a historic building – windows that vary from the vast tall multi-paned rectangles at the front of the building, to circular and arched windows here and there. Any steelwork has been incorporated into the design of the rooms as have columns wherever they appeared in the original industrial building. Designed by Conran & Partners the new-build areas and interiors of the building meld flawlessly into the old, retaining character and individuality.
The building includes secure private covered car parking on the ground and basement floors with the additional benefit of communal cycle and bin stores.
Although each individual apartments mailbox is located in the new reception area, larger parcels/deliveries can be left with the live in concierge/caretaker for safe keeping when residents are out and about. While visitors can be greeted by way of a video entry system, secure in the knowledge that a 24hour CCTV system is operating throughout the building and being monitored by the concierge/caretaker.
